The Division
of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine (PACCM) includes
specialists who are board certified in the fields of pulmonary medicine,
critical care medicine, and allergic disorders of the lung. In addition
to providing care for your illness, these doctors also participate
in the teaching and training of new physicians, and conduct research
in all types of lung disease and problems. These physicians attend
national and international meetings to present and review the latest
findings in the care of patients with lung disease. Visit our University
of Pittsburgh site to learn more about our teaching and research
programs.
In recognition
of their expertise in the care of patients with lung disease, numerous
PACCM Division faculty members are listed in The Best Doctors in
America. U.S.
News and World Report's "America's Best Hospitals" has
also ranked the UPMC Pulmonary program 16th in a national ranking
of all respiratory disorders programs. This ranking is based upon
the reputation of board-certified specialists (a survey of 150 in
each specialty area); predicted mortality rates; and various medical
data (e.g. nurse/bed ratio, technology index, discharges) submitted
to the American Hospital Association.
In addition
to our mission of education and research in lung disease, our doctors
are committed to provide world class patient care for a broad range
of common and rare lung conditions.
